    Beatitudes And Platitudes
Beatitudes
Differ from platitudes:
Beatitudes speak to the blessed,
While platitudes come from the rest.
                           —Elliot Watson

                     True Love
True love endures…
Is not a fragile, fleeting thing,
To burn with ardor, flaming bright,
Then flickering, growing dim,
Soon spent—reduced to ashes.

True love is understanding…
Unpretentious, unassuming,
A gift bestowed, a gift received,
Cherishing, affection shared,
Honored promise—promise honored.
True love remains…
Steadfast, constant, warm devotion,
Through highs and lows—joy and grief,
Faithful journey side by side,
As one for long as both shall live.
                           —Nelia J. Greer

         The Mustard Grain
                (from Mark 4)
So small it was, that Mustard Grain
sown in the soil and watered by rain.
Such a small seed when planted in
   spring,
by fall birds sit on its branches and
   sing.

Those branches became a source of
   sweet shade
for the birds of heaven—the creatures
   God made.
Such is The Kingdom—continually
   growing,
new trees appear from the seeds God
is sowing.
                                               —Todd Oyler

         Night Sky Bursting
the night sky bursting
with reds yellows and orange
God’s great fireworks
                          —Michele Anne Jaquays
